The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture led by Minister Nathi Mthethwa, in collaboration with the Luthuli Museum, will deliver a memorial lecture to honour Chief Albert Luthuli. The presentation is part of a series of activities commemorating Africa Month.
For his non-violent battle against apartheid in 1961, Chief Albert Luthuli became the first African to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
The lecture is in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Chief Albert Luthuli becoming the first African to receive the Nobel Prize. As part of the commemoration, the DSAC will conduct a series of public talks, exhibitions, school discussions and essays to commemorate this freedom stalwart's accomplishment.
